Natural Gemstone Rings Buying Guide
A ring is the most personal piece of jewellery you can wear, constantly visible to you throughout the day. Whether you are looking for a highly durable gemstone engagement ring or a bold statement piece, Hayat Gems brings you factory-direct, bespoke rings crafted with certified natural stones and premium precious metals.
Which natural gemstones are most durable for an everyday engagement ring?
For a ring that will be worn daily and subjected to frequent impacts, durability is paramount. We highly recommend stones from the Corundum family—specifically Blue Sapphires, Yellow Sapphires, and Rubies. These rank a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale, second only to diamonds, making them incredibly resistant to scratching and dulling over time.
Should I choose a Prong setting or a Bezel setting for my gemstone ring?
A Prong setting (using small metal claws) allows maximum light to enter the gemstone, enhancing its brilliance and making the stone look larger. It is ideal for Sapphires and Rubies. A Bezel setting (a continuous metal rim surrounding the stone) offers maximum security and protects the edges of the gem. It is highly recommended for slightly softer stones like Emeralds, Opals, or Tanzanite.
What metal is best: 14k Gold, 18k Gold, or Sterling Silver?
It depends on your lifestyle. 18k Gold contains 75% pure gold, offering a rich, warm color perfect for luxury investment pieces. 14k Gold (58.3% gold) is slightly harder and more scratch-resistant, making it ideal for active daily wear. 925 Sterling Silver is a beautiful, budget-friendly, and hypoallergenic option that pairs exceptionally well with cooler-toned stones like Aquamarine and Blue Sapphire.
How can I accurately find my ring size when ordering internationally?
We recommend visiting a local jeweller to have your finger professionally sized. Alternatively, you can measure the inside diameter of a ring that already fits you well in millimeters (mm) and compare it against our international ring size chart. Always measure your fingers at the end of the day when they are slightly swollen for the most comfortable fit.
Can Hayat Gems resize a natural gemstone ring if it doesn't fit perfectly?
Yes, the vast majority of our rings can be resized. Because we operate our own manufacturing workshop in Jaipur, our artisans can expertly resize your ring without compromising the structural integrity of the gemstone setting. Note that rings with stones covering the entire band (like full eternity bands) cannot be resized.
