Certified Tanzanite Gemstone: 8x6mm Octagon Cut, Rich Violet-Blue

The Rare African Gem

Natural Tanzanite Buying Guide

Tanzanite is a true geological phenomenon. Found in only one location on Earth—the Merelani Hills of Tanzania—it is often described as a "single-generation gemstone." Hayat Gems directly imports rough Tanzanite to our Jaipur workshop, offering you exclusive access to this exotic violet-blue stone at factory prices.

Why is Tanzanite considered a rare investment stone?
Tanzanite is estimated to be 1,000 times rarer than diamonds. Because it is mined exclusively in a small 4-kilometer strip in Tanzania, geologists predict the mines may deplete within the next 20 years. This finite supply, coupled with increasing global demand, makes high-quality Tanzanite a highly lucrative investment for collectors.
What is the ideal color for high-quality Tanzanite?
The most valuable Tanzanite stones exhibit a deep, vivid "Sapphire Blue" with distinct violet or purple flashes when viewed from different angles (a property called pleochroism). Lighter, lavender-colored stones are beautiful and more affordable, but deeply saturated violet-blue stones command the highest premium in the market.
Is Tanzanite durable enough for daily wear rings?
Tanzanite ranks 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs hardness scale. While it is perfect for earrings and necklaces which receive little impact, a Tanzanite ring requires some care. It is best suited for occasional wear or must be set in a protective protective gold or silver setting if worn daily, to prevent scratching.
Are Tanzanite gemstones heat-treated?
Yes, almost all Tanzanite on the global market undergoes a mild, universally accepted heat treatment. When mined, the rough stone often has brownish tones. Gentle heating mimics natural earth processes, permanently transforming the stone into its famous brilliant blue-violet color. This does not negatively affect the stone's value or authenticity.
Does Hayat Gems provide certification for Tanzanite?
Absolutely. As a registered manufacturer, every natural Tanzanite piece sold by Hayat Gems can be accompanied by an independent laboratory certificate (such as IGI), verifying its natural origin, carat weight, and authenticity.
